Sargento Interns and Co-Ops live our value of Community Outreach by volunteering in our communities.

Feel Good Friday: Interns and Co-ops Day of Caring

July 10 was the 8th Annual Intern and Co-Op Day of Caring hosted by the Sheboygan County Chamber. Over 20 Sargento interns and co-ops took part volunteering throughout our communities with six nonprofit organizations including Nourish Farms, Sharon Richardson Hospice Resale Store, Habitat for Humanity, Bookworm Gardens, Sheboygan County Food Bank, and Kohler Andrae State Park.

Our interns and co-ops provided helping hands preparing wholesome food choices, organizing clothing and housewares, cleaning up a lawn, preparing for a Habitat build, cleaning up along the beach, preparing food boxes for distribution, and so much more!

In addition to the Day of Caring, our interns and co-ops also volunteer four times throughout the summer with Sheboygan County Boys and Girls Club. Just as our student employees have mentors at work, they pay it forward and serve as mentors to youth in our community.

"The Day of Caring may have been one of the most fun experiences this far as an intern at Sargento and with other peer interns across the county. At the Sheboygan Food Bank, we were expected to prepare two pallets worth of lunches for kids in need, but ultimately filled five pallets! It was really great to see teamwork at work between all 14 of us," shared Maria Graziano, Corporate Communications Intern.

Miranda Rautmann, Environmental and Sustainability Intern said, "I had a great time volunteering at Nourish Farms, I didn’t know what this organization all did before my experience, but all the staff was very friendly and taught us what to do and more about the organization. I enjoyed that they had three different areas for us to help in, so we could all contribute in a way we were passionate about and comfortable with. I got the opportunity to help with gardening and got to pick black raspberries, garlic, beets, carrots, and basil, which were all brought to the kitchen and washed to be made into a healthy meal!"

The Sargento Internship and Co-op program and experience provides opportunities for our student employees to get to know one another while learning a valuable work-life lesson, even the smallest actions can cause a ripple effect of positive change. Working together, helping others, we can use our gifts and talents to make a difference for our company and communities.
